I'm (right now) am an 8TH grade student in this school and have been here for 3 years. Let me start off by saying that the following review will be (at my very best) not bias and truthful. If anything, (if i add opinions) any of my opinions reflect not only myself and my experience but as well as my fellow peers. SCHOOL VIBE AND PLACE: This school has a reputation and everyone in it are proud to show it. From saying we're a high 5 school every morning to the principal calling her students "stars" in a trip, its a sort of confidence that other schools do not have. Because this school is very new, the halls and rooms at most part are sanitary and I salute the staff for doing a great job. Really. I enjoy walking into the school building in the morning and get greeted by the security guards, staff, the parent coordinator, the vice principal, and time to time, teachers if we cross paths outside or in the halls. Basically, I feel very at home and how everyone is (at the most part) very friendly. The staff may be rude at times and may call you out for something you honestly thought was right to do, but I understand that they are constantly working with children in the lower grades who may not have discipline. TEACHERS AND OFFICE PEOPLE: There are teachers who straight out are very rude and mean looking, there are teachers who are like a fellow friend, and there are teachers who you actually learn something from. Sometimes teachers there can be all three. Many students dislike Mr. Rooney ( one of the deans in the middle school). Yes, he is very demanding and can ruin your whole day by a death stare, he is also understanding when you listen to him carefully and "chill" if your that type of kid who actually focuses on school work instead of fooling around. Ms. Cody (librarian) is commonly spoken about in the reviews because many believe that she's a horrible teacher and a feminist. First of all, living in a society today, where issues such as women's rights, political arguments, LGBT community uprising, and discrimination of all race, i don't understand why people would dislike someone for being a feminist (whether she is or not). At my acknowledgement, Ms. Cody has been such a nice advisor and is very understanding. She's one of the first teachers that made me homely in this school. No lie, she is respectful and caring to all of her students and i swear if you need her back, she'll be there. Mr. Principal (previous math/algebra teacher) IS SUCH AN AMAZING TEACHER . I HAVE NEVER UNDERSTAND AND LEARNED SO MUCH IN MATHEMATICS LIKE I HAVE WITH MY TIME IN MR. P'S CLASS. HIS TACTICS IN TEACHING AND HIS FRIENDLY PERSONALITY MADE HIM A TEACHER I CAN NEVER FORGET. Today, my fellow students (all of 8th grade and a class from 7th grade) have found out that we're not having him as our teacher because of some sort of complications. I, ALONG WITH MY CLASSMATES WERE SO DISAPPOINTED AND MAD AND ANNOYED AND SO DISCOMBOBULATED WITH SUCH NEWSSSSSSS. IM TELLING YOU, HE IS SUCH AN AMAZING TEACHER AND PERSON WHETHER HE WAS TEACHING MATH OR TELLING US ABOUT WHAT LIFE HAD BEEN LIKE THROUGHOUT HISTORY. (I DEMAND AN EXPLANATION FOR WHY HE LEFT US). The Algebra regents are arriving soon and I must say that he prepared us enough to get us to pass. really.. I never knew my potential in math until he came. I ALSO WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO MR. V FOR BEING AN AMAZING HISTORY TEACHER . REASON WHY I PUT A 3/5: Yes this school overall is REALLY GOOD compared to others especially but the reason why I put 3/5 is because of the principal. (Deon LaVigne-Jones). The amount of drama and scams the principal is coated in is too much. Not only is she very very very very demanding all the time, she never really tries to make me or any students like home. Speaking for all of my classmates, we respect her as a person and an adult when she's in the room but we do not respect her as a principal. I enjoy being in this school, but honestly, she just ruins it. And the way teachers speak, look, and interact with her shows it as well.
